Meant to post after I did Tuska just never got round to it. First of all I have to say that my theory that Tuska wasn’t much more than in the Aquathlon were sadly proved wrong. Swimming in the sea at a time when the tide was dragging me backwards on the first third, the [...]

Counting to 5. 1…2…3…3…4…5…
Or at least that’s what the marshals at the Cardiff International Pool Aquathlon managed to do. When attempting a daunting, never before done by yourself 500m swim in a wetsuit you’ve never worn before you’d like to think that at least you wouldn’t have to do anymore than planned.
Marshal had other ideas when he called [...]
Sporting Life
It’s all been going on in the last few weeks. Been training well and also been doing quite a few different events – started with the Gower Bike Ride on the 5th July which was 29 miles of undulating roads starting and ending in Swansea and taking in a good section of the Gower – [...]
First Event of the Season
On Sunday I did the Pembrokeshire Duathlon – also known as the Welsh Duathlon Championships.
As I’m not long over the op I’d set this as a target for myself and I must admit I did wonder if I’d bitten off more than I could chew.
We travelled up the day before staying in the Cleddau Bridge [...]
Better late than never
We’ve not updated in a while but a lot has happened. Dave completed his triathlon, the wedding is booked and we’re 3 days away from our trip to New Zealand.Â
Wedding is booked for 20th September 2008 in Llyswen near Brecon with the service at a local church and then the reception at Llangoed Hall. We’ll be sending [...]
I think I can do this
It’s been a busy few days of triathlon training and wedding planning.
Friday – ran a 5K PB of 25:45
Saturday – visited a load of potential wedding venues along the M4 Corridor and then went out for a meal in T Bones in the evening with Kathryn’s parents.
Sunday – visited a few more venues on the [...]
2 legs good, 2 wheels better.
Well I’ve gone and bought my bike – it’s a Specialized Allez road bike and I got it from local store, Don Skene, who were as good as any online store I looked at. They threw in a helmet, gloves, computer and water bottle in the total price and also throw in a free [...]
Digging Deep
Just over a week into training and I’ve clocked up 3 5K runs at a decent pace, the last of which I managed to do without walking at all. Need to build up my aerobic capacity but its coming quite quickly.[newline]
Have done plenty of swimming – yesterdays session was 22 lengths albeit fragmented into blocks [...]
Tri update
The training continues albeit limited by a blister I picked up on my first proper run – which was a 27 minute 5K which is not bad for a start. Have also managed to swim 500metres but taking too many breathers.
Chris and I have probably decided to compete in the Warwick Triathlon as it [...]
Going For Gold!
Well not so much gold, more completion in a reasonable time.
In a fit of stupidity I have agreed to do a Triathlon – not the full Olympic distance and certainly not Iron Man but either way its a 400m swim, 20K bike ride and a 5K run. The event I’m looking to enter is [...]
